This conversion kit allows you to convert your MDR rifle from one caliber to another by changing out the barrel assembly, forward ejection chute, bolt head, magazine retention tab, and the magazine well spacer in the case of the .223 Wylde conversion kit. These parts are drop in ready with no gunsmithing required. The chassis of the MDR is ready to accept the .223 Wylde (Compatible with.223 Rem or 5.56x45mm NATO) or the .308 Win (7.62x51mm NATO). This means you have total flexibility to change the MDR’s calibers to meet situational needs.
Like other Desert Tech rifles, the only tool you need to change from one caliber to another is a 80 inch pound torque wrench with a 5mm Allen head. It takes around 2 minutes to change out the Conversion Kit and is no more difficult than field stripping for regular maintenance/cleaning. With the same level of modularity as other Desert Tech rifles there are many possible custom barrels that can be developed to expand the MDR’s capabilities.
